Why do people take photos of the sunset? Like, I got off the ferry today and many were doing that.

Because sunsets are beautiful and they want to immortalize the memory and save the view forever

A new dawn, a new hope? People like the positive energetic colours coming up plus the immense light entering skin and eyes causes not only good feelings but also causes a chemical chain reaction in our body and brain that releases some happy hormones. So no wonder people want to try and keep that.

It's kind of funny how when witnessing something beautiful or amazing, people would rather spend their time taking pictures or videos to make it last than actually experience it directly, when chances are they'll never actually look at the pictures/videos again..

I think we're just too used to offloading everything -- our perceptions/experiences, our knowledge, our thinking, our memories, etc. -- to technology.
