Do you think it's customary/polite for men to put toilet seats down in homes also occupied by women? My brother thinks it's a double-standard that women don't put the seat up for men in kind, so he boycotted putting the seat down 😂

Nobody is obligated to leave the toilet seat a certain way. It's retarded when women complain about men not leaving the seat down. If I dealt with that, I'd leave the seat up for spite. Men don't complain about women not putting the seat up for them. Adjust the seat if you need to instead making a huge argument out of nothing. When the seat is down and I need it up, I put it up. When the seat is up and I need it down, I put it down.

Yeah it's pretty standard courtesy to leave the seat down. His logic is a bit flawed as men and women don't use the bathroom in intervals, so leaving it up after she's done doesn't make a lot of sense.

The purpose of toilet seats is to avoid sitting on the cold ceramics, and to put them up is a means to be able to clean the toilet and the seat properly from both sides. So unless you do not clean the seat or toilet there is no reason to put it up? Though some men do not sit down while peeing and they spray themselves, the seat and the bathroom with urine and call that a manly way of life .....

Everyone should close the seat and lid so that when you flush, the mist of pee doesn't fly all up into the air

Yeah, I mean it's not like we're being asked to go wash the car (that comes later) it literally takes one second to do so it's not a huge deal, also I have had the misadventure of sitting on a toilet when the seat was up...so I empathize

If men have to put the seat up before they use the toilet, it's only fair that women have to put it down themselves when they want to use it. Plus, it's <current year>, and it's sexist to treat women like they're incapable of moving a toilet seat. By leaving it up, I'm helping to make a more equal society!

It is polite but I understand your brothers opinion. In my house all of us would just put the seat and the lid down when we were done. That way it looks more presentable (according to me mum) and we didn't have to worry about the cat or dog getting into it. I personally think that's the best compromise

Its polite to flush after and replace the toilet paper if you finished it... seat stuff... I mean I guess its polite - but there are bigger factors at play :o
