The newsman says an increasing number of people have been putting 'mother' on their resume/CV as part of their job history (in response to workplace bias against mothers and to explain long periods of unemployment) is this something you can get behind?

I would consider using it to explain gaps in my CV, absolutely.

And any employer who raised an eyebrow, is not a good employer to work for.

They do say homemakers are the worst paid profession and that I completely agree with, I find mother falls in a similar category, but it all depends on how they word it in said resume, some mothers can be super obnoxious about it tbh, and that can be a turn off to any potential employer.

Definitely. You stopped working for a few years to have some children, you didn’t have a lobotomy and forget everything you ever learned. Anything that will help male bosses understand this can only be a good thing.

Yeah. Resumes are bullshit and so is the classic interview question "why haven't you been working non stop your entire life?" Just because you're not getting paid to take care of the home and kids doesn't mean it's not real work

Tbh I've seen much more cringe things on CVs than that, and its certainly an understandable reasonable for why someone might be out of their profession for a few years.

Yeah absolutely. A lot of employers ask why women have gaps in their resume and many are embarrassed or feel ashamed to say they were being mothers. But that role is insane. They should be prideful of the work they’ve done. Dads too! They deserve recognition because there’s a lot of them who don’t think watching their own kids is baby sitting and that’s important!

They could probably word it a little more eloquently. "Homemaker" or "child caretaker" looks a bit less tacky than writing "Well I'm a MOM!" I have no problem with this otherwise.

I'm anti-capitalist and anti-wage slavery, and I think it's preposterous that we have to practically beg companies for the chance to be their slave just so we can live..let alone companies judging you or your viability according to whether you've been doing this non-stop your entire life, and it's especially absurd to expect mothers to work, because who's going to watch/raise the child? You can't pay a babysitter to do it unless you happen to make a lot more than a babysitter makes.. so yes, I'm obviously totally behind that.
