What's the strangest thing you grew up eating? These are baby crabs, covered in sauce, eaten whole: https://i.imgur.com/vwTBg7O.jpg
Clootie Dumpling. Itās like a rich spiced fruitcake (in true Scottish tradition: full of fat), but instead of being baked in the oven the mixture is wrapped in a cloth and then boiled in water - for hours. Then youāre supposed to leave it under the bed for a few days before you eat it. (Donāt ask me, Iām just telling the story.) Itās a heavy lump of a thing - firm in texture with a smooth outer skin. You can slice it and eat it like cake, have it warm as a dessert with custard, or fry it and have it for breakfast with bacon and eggs etc.
I mean I guess you could call the whole diet strange...bland food was what we were all about as a kid, it was corn flakes and graham crackers, and not even the cool graham crackers with the cinnamon sugar coating, it was corrugated cardboard... maybe some chicken nuggets if it was a crazy night... I was 13 before I ever had anything like pepperoni pizza or a can of Coke
Smoked eel. It is disgusting.
i use to eat mayonnaise sandwiches :p
