What's the strangest thing you grew up eating? These are baby crabs, covered in sauce, eaten whole: https://i.imgur.com/vwTBg7O.jpg

Can't think of any food, but as a kid when I was sick, my dad would whip up some 7UP with one raw egg. that was my comfort drink tbh

Clootie Dumpling. Itā€™s like a rich spiced fruitcake (in true Scottish tradition: full of fat), but instead of being baked in the oven the mixture is wrapped in a cloth and then boiled in water - for hours. Then youā€™re supposed to leave it under the bed for a few days before you eat it. (Donā€™t ask me, Iā€™m just telling the story.) Itā€™s a heavy lump of a thing - firm in texture with a smooth outer skin. You can slice it and eat it like cake, have it warm as a dessert with custard, or fry it and have it for breakfast with bacon and eggs etc.

I mean I guess you could call the whole diet strange...bland food was what we were all about as a kid, it was corn flakes and graham crackers, and not even the cool graham crackers with the cinnamon sugar coating, it was corrugated cardboard... maybe some chicken nuggets if it was a crazy night... I was 13 before I ever had anything like pepperoni pizza or a can of Coke
